This is my relationship with music.  I remember the feeling right before you hit the stage.  The nervousness that turns into fuel, the sound of people Vibin off your creativity, it was so intoxicating, and I was so intoxicated.  Lol.  Hip Hop at one time was my identity. I was a rapper as you should already know if you are a listener. I am also a vocalist and I used to sing background for several artists, and church choirs. I sang background for our next guest and I am so happy to share her story with you.

Sheree Brown is an artist and a brand, she is a multimedia experience whose music and projects inspires, educates, uplift and touch the hearts of those across generations, lifestyles, and cultures. She is a singer, songwriter, musician, producer, and teacher. She began her career as a rhythm and blues and pop recording artist on the Capitol Records herelabel in the early eighties.  .  Sheree has achieved gold and platinum record status over the years for songs that she has written or co-written for various artists, including Kirk Franklin’s hit “Looking for You”, a #1 gospel hit. She is a multiple ASCAP Award winning recipient and has written for such artists as Grammy nominated composer and musician Patrice Rushen (Haven’t You Heard and Settle For My Love) and Zhane (Groove Thang). She has co-written, recorded and published close to 100 songs, including songs for the acclaimed movie, Hollywood Shuffle.

Sheree has co-authored a children’s book, Zhakanaka The Word. This highly acclaimed book is a part of a national peace campaign that focuses on self-esteem, literacy, and anti-bullying. Additionally, she has released a children’s music CD, We’re All Only Children. Coming off of the success of her European tour, she released her project Messages From The Heart, a highly anticipated concept project that includes a book and music CD. She recently released her first single in a few years, “I Choose Love”, written by her and Patrice Rushen. The song is from her forthcoming musical effort Messages From The Spirit…The Collective and is the follow up to Messages From The Heart, using the same formats,

I met Sheree Brown years ago through my Aunt and Uncle in Ladera Heights.  I was in my full fledged artistry and moving into being a vocalist and she gave me a chance to sing background for her.  It was amazing. I don't really think she realizes how excited I was to be a part of that show.  She was such a bright bubbly spirit  and she let us be creative and fun with our backgrounds. She created an amazing interactive stage show for a children’s book Sheree co-authored called, Zhakanaka The Word. She has returned to bless the world with more of her music.

ORAQUOTE OF THE DAY

Music is the way that we articulate our pride, pain, Passion, history and Victory! Use this tool responsibly, for you hold the future in your voice!

My relationship with music is evolving.  At one time I was a slave to it’s every beck and call to a studio. Man I have grown.  The path that I took delayed my greatness, but I don’t regret it one bit.  Dj Burt Blackarch, Brother J, and Sheree Brown are just a few of the jewels I’ve been able to be in company with along my musical journey.  I've set my intentions to be a vessel for healing, therefore I am vowing to continue to use my voice and sound in music as a way to add to the masses.  This doesnt mean you won’t hear me cuss, or talk about sex. It means I intend to bring forth music that evokes change. What the hell does that mean? Lol I’ll use this musical platform for good.

The Harsh reality is that we are feeling the societal effects of the music of these ages.  Relationships and marriages are being affected. Love is at an all time loss, and we have to do better. I am not an advocate for censorship, I am a vessel for change in every way.  As we begin to grow in the areas of Entrepreneurship, and we are all Bossing up out here on the gram, lets set our intentions to be more mindful about the words and energy we are putting in the universe.  Remember you get what you give! As always stay connected, continue to grow in all areas of creativity and Follow me Follow me Follow me, or don't follow me.
